Post-College Wardrobe Revamp Guide
By Jayme Chandler
Graduating college is a significant turning point in any girl’s life. Not only is she starting her career, but society’s perception of her entirely changes. A girl entering the professional world requires a change in style and presentation. No longer is she a college student and sorority girl, but an independent adult with rent that needs to be paid and money that needs to be made. College graduation is the time for any girl to take her wardrobe from college-chic to executive sleek. Entering the workforce and adulthood can be intimidating, but a sophisticated wardrobe can help instill the confidence and refined demeanor every girl needs at the beginning of her career. Below is a guide to building the perfect wardrobe for any girl entering the professional world.
Blazer
A blazer is the perfect universal piece for transitioning in and out of the office. This piece can be dressed up with trousers, a blouse, and belt or dressed down with jeans and tee.
Silk blouse
A silk blouse is always a piece you can rely on. It brings timeless elegance and maturity to any look, whether it’s paired with jeans or a skirt.
Tote
The tote is the purse of the office. Big enough to hold a laptop, papers, and files, but also transport your everyday essentials. A girl with a tote always looks like she’s ready for business.
Summery dress
A summery dress is the foolproof weekend look for the summer. It perfectly suits any daytime event from bottomless brunches, family barbecues, and music festivals, to running errands. I may never go back to jean shorts!
Classic denim
A classic pair of jeans are essential for your out-of-the-office look. Whether they’re straight-leg or flared, denim that fits and flatters your physique is the foundation for any wardrobe.
Pumps
Pumps are the ideal heel for the office. Pumps never fail to bring professionalism with style to your work look. Dress them down with a pair of jeans.
Midi skirt
Midi skirts are perfect for in and out of the office. They’re on-trend, casual, but also office appropriate. Dress them up with heels, or dress them down with a pair of sneakers.
Flared pants
Flared pants are my go-to office look. Pair them with a simple blouse, flared pants, and you’re a show stopper. For a youthful, summery look, pick a fun color like light pink or blue.
Turtleneck
Every girl needs a turtleneck in her wardrobe. They’re office-appropriate but also dress-down perfectly with a pair of jeans. Cable-knit turtlenecks work for the fall/winter season, while thinner turtlenecks work in the spring/summer for those chilly office temps.
Classic boots
Boots are the perfect alternative to heels for the fall/winter season. But they also dress down for any casual weekend outfit. Whether you go over-the-knee, mid-calf, or ankle, boots make every look fashion-forward.
Belted coat
A belted coat makes every outfit look sophisticated and ready-for-business. Uniquely functional and flattering, every girl needs a good coat for the fall and winter and those chilly days in the spring.
