Now that we’ve thankfully exited 2020 and entered a new year, it is time to refresh our skin and treat ourselves to some self-care. The winter months leave many of us with dry skin and a desperate need for a facial. With COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions still ravaging businesses across the country, many spas remain closed until further notice. But not to worry, The Conservateur has come to the rescue with the ultimate at-home facial guide featuring the best skincare tools, recipes, and style tips.

The Best Tools

If you need a lift, deep exfoliation, or a beautiful glow, there are an array of skincare tools at your disposal. Not only are these tools effective, but they are also fun to use! Find out which tool is best for you below.

The Nurse Jaime Uplifting Massaging Beauty Roller

If your skin has pigmentation or you are worried about fine lines and wrinkles, the Uplifter is both a portable and affordable addition to your cosmetic toolbox. The 24 massaging stones energize, enhance, revive and uplift your skin- plus, it feels amazing.

Cooling Facial Globes

Cooling facial globes promote circulation, reduce inflammation, and feel amazing to apply. Pop them in your fridge or freezer, and they are ready to go for your at-home facial. We’d recommend using them in the morning as a great way to wakeup and combat puffiness. Add these globes to your skincare routine, and your skin will definitely thank you later.

Facial Steamer

One staple item for a facial is a steamer, and they’re readily available. A facial steamer detoxes skin by releasing dead skin cells and impurities. Having a facial steamer at-home can also help with dry winter skin. You can even add your favorite essential oils for a more relaxing experience.

NuFACE Toning Device

Perfect for using at home or on the road, this travel-sized device tones and firms skin. The NuFACE features microcurrent technology and gives a mini facial lift in just five minutes. We are all trying to limit the signs of aging skin, and this device is sure to help.

Rose Quartz Heart Facial Gua Sha

This Gua Sha is a great tag team partner for your facial roller. This adorable heart-shaped stone is designed to support blood circulation, visibly sculpting your face as you massage it. The stone also has healing properties to promote the easing of tension and stress. Additionally, it’s a cute aesthetic for your skincare collection.

Personal Microderm Pro Device (PMD)

One of my favorite add-ons to a facial is microdermabrasion. This tool gets you the same spa effect but at home. The PMD combines patented spinning technology and a calibrated vacuum to give you beautiful, smooth, and bright skin. You’ll be able to apply your skincare and makeup routine much more easily, and your pores will be visibly smaller. This is a great tool to purchase to help prevent the signs of aging. Invest in yourself!

Mask Up

Thanks to Pinterest, you do not need to worry about buying any special masks; you can make your own! Most homemade masks can be made with ingredients found around the house. If you are experiencing dry skin and need some exfoliation, try this Avocado Oatmeal Mask. For the coffee addicts, this Chocolate Coffee Mask is calling your name. Sensitive skin can be hard to treat, but this Oatmeal Honey Mask soothes and hydrates your skin without risking irritation. Turmeric is a superfood for your body, and it can do wonders for your skin. This Easy Turmeric Face Mask promotes hydration, has anti-aging properties, and it reduces acne. Making masks at home allows you to customize them according to your individual needs. The best part about at-home face masks is that you can figure out what does and does not work for your skin. We know it sounds crazy, but the mask we keep going to, again and again, is simply a full-fat Greek yogurt mask after a cleansing, steamy shower. It truly works miracles.

What to Wear

Now that you have the right tools and the right mask, you need to set the mood. For a real spa experience, a fluffy robe is a necessity (a comfy pair of pajamas is also great). To make application easier, a headband prevents messy spills into your hair and keeps oily hair off of your face. We cannot forget our toes. A pair of slippers complete the perfect spa look at home. Also, don’t forget to throw on some nice meditation music, dim the lights, and light a candle- this is a spa, after all.
