Get Ready with Me for a Night Out

Every girl knows the struggle of trying to elevate her usual day-to-day makeup look to one worthy of pictures and the social environments of going out! I’m here to give you a step-by-step routine if you always feel unsure of where to start or want to switch it up to feel as glam as possible on your night out!

Primer and foundation

Make sure you use a primer to get the best setting when applying your products. It will leave your skin glowing and feeling fresh even after your night out! I like to use a liquid foundation because it makes my skin feel lighter and makes my skin look fresh and dewy. Make sure to always use a foundation that matches your skin, even when you are tempted to up the color to give yourself a little bit of a tan— don’t. It could make you look orange, and people could tell you your neck is a different color.

Concealer

One of my key makeup products is concealer. Whenever I’m tired, I always get dark circles under my eyes, so concealer is a lifesaver. I also use the same concealer color to line my nose when contouring, as it helps act as a base before using a darker color.

Contour

This is a step you can skip (I usually do it depending on the vibe I am feeling for the evening), but a simple way to quickly do your contour is to take a darker color than your concealer and do a quick swipe on each cheekbone and on either side of your nose. If you want a more dramatic look, you can also add some to your forehead and jawline.

Eyeshadow

I love eyeshadow, but many people find it intimidating because it’s easy to mess up, especially with darker colors. As someone with dark brown eyes, the best way to accentuate them is with eyeshadow. When I go out, I stick to darker tones and sparkles to dramatize my eyes. First, I use a lighter brown on the brow bone to set the eye. Once I do that, I take the second darkest color I will use and go over the entire eyelid as the base. Next, I take the darkest color I’ll use, typically a very dark grey with a hint of sparkle in it, and take a crease brush and apply it to the crease of my eyelid and a little to the side of the eye. For the finishing touch, I use a sparkly silver or gold (depending on my jewelry tone for the night) and go in the corner of my eye (inside the eyelid closer to the nose) and lightly apply it over ¼-⅓ of my eyelid. I use this same process for a simple day look with different colors and much lighter tones!

Setting Powder

This is a step many girls forget but is arguably the most crucial to pulling your entire look together. Choose a powder color that’s slightly darker than your foundation, and make sure it is not a heavy foundation powder because it will make your entire face look as though you caked your makeup on. Apply the powder to your face, and use a light brush to blend it in down your neck and by your ears-you would be amazed at how much better your makeup looks when you blend!

Blush and Highlighter

A simple yet effective way to avoid your face appearing “flat” is to highlight. Take a pink or peachy color, and depending on your face shape, apply to either the apple of your cheek or more towards the side or center. For a more dramatic and sparkly look, apply highlighter to your upper cheek/temples. I always like dabbing a tad on the tip of my nose.

Mascara

My favorite part of any makeup look, mascara adds drama, accentuates your eyes, and ties your entire look together. The beauty of mascara is in its versatility— you can keep it simple for a professional setting or apply a lot for a party look! Just make sure not to forget to wipe the excess that can get under your eyes if you have super long lashes already.
