Man! I Feel Like a Woman!

Musical sensation Adele came under fire at an awards show earlier this year for a speech that was deemed controversial. What did she say that drew so much ire? That she celebrated her femininity.

As she accepted her award as Artist of the Year, Adele exclaimed, “I understand why the name of this award has changed, but I really love being a woman and being a female artist. I do! I’m really, really proud of us. I really, really am.”

Despite the cheers of the audience, pro-transgender Twitter trolls were quick to villainize Adele for championing womanhood.

Lately, the Left is doing all it can to eliminate sex distinctions and, therefore, women. It diminishes those special instincts and aptitudes that are unique to female biology.

Wasn’t the original goal of the feminist movement to help women realize their value? It was not, we thought, to help women become men but to help us recognize our intrinsic worth as women.

Gone are the days of belting the girl-power anthems, “I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar” and “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” The topic of womanhood is as taboo as it was for the suffragettes. The trans lobby is rapidly erasing the progress our ancestors made. There is nothing more degrading to women than telling them that they cannot love being who they are.

But this isn’t a new phenomenon. Major fashion labels have thrived for decades by convincing women that they aren’t enough. From featuring only stick figure models and airbrushing complexions on beauty ads, these magazines have long portrayed women unrealistically. Their subliminal messaging tells women that they are lacking but could be acceptable if they buy another product, try a new weight loss program, or take this quiz to learn how to win a man.

Walking through the mall the other day, I passed by Victoria’s Secret and was shocked to see that a woman’s lingerie store was advertising photos of men, not for the sex appeal but to be gender inclusive. A quick look through Old Navy’s website shows the brand now offers gender-neutral clothing, modeled by androgynous talent. Huge beauty houses now use male models to show off their products to women. They even ruined women’s favorite pastime: shopping!

Female athletes are suing schools and sports leagues because they are being subject to unfair competition by biological males, who are obviously outperforming them. Sixteen of the University of Pennsylvania swimmers who raced against the transgender Lia Thomas have asked their school to recognize that, “when it comes to sports competition, that the biology of sex is a separate issue from someone’s gender identity.” Some women on the team have even admitted how uncomfortable it makes them to be forced into locker rooms where they’re exposed to Thomas’ male genitalia.

In case you forgot, the Left also canceled author of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling, for being a trans-exclusionary radical feminist. She upholds the rights of women to exist, not to be erased through verbiage like “people who menstruate.” She has tweeted, “if sex isn’t real the lived reality of women globally is erased.” To be sure, Rowling has sympathized with the challenges transgender individuals have faced in assimilating into society. But she has affirmed: “my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.” To add insult to injury, HBO excluded her from the cast reunion and celebration of Harry Potter’s 20th anniversary.

The accomplishments of Adele and J.K. Rowling were completely obliterated because they are women who love being so and were brave enough to say it.

It is not transphobic to find fulfillment in your God-given identity. However, it is dangerously delusional to glorify the mental illness of gender dysphoria. We are not doing any favors by hailing psych ward patients as heroes and demonizing women for their outstanding achievements.

The Left’s message couldn’t be louder: they simply hate women. Even more so, they hate women who aren’t afraid of being feminine.

Despite the Left’s fear-mongering, the reality is plain enough: women want to be women. We may have read fairy tales as girls, but women live in the real world.

It’s time for women to rise up and reclaim their feminine identity. We are mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters who refuse to be erased. Our roles in this world are God-ordained and irreplaceable.

So ladies, wear the pretty dress, cook for your family and find meaning in providing a home-cooked meal to share, love your husband with your whole heart, and embrace the elegance of womanhood. Rest in knowing that you can be a successful CEO and devoted homemaker. Don’t be afraid to feel a little deeper, love a lot harder, and hold the line against this regressive scheme.

Maybe it’s time for Adele to lead a chorus of women singing: “I am woman hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore.”
