Summer Wedding Ready
By Isabelle Redfield
We all want to look our very best at a wedding. Whether you’re center stage or merely a date, there are photos to make, hugs to give, and many people you’ll be meeting for the first time. In a girl’s world, it’s game on. In order to “make an entrance” at any event, particularly a wedding, one must first consider their environment. This aspect becomes evident after analyzing a few metrics: the invitation, the bride, and the group you’ll be among.
When looking for the perfect dress, consider questions like these: Will I be comfortable meeting parents, grandparents, etc., in this dress? Is this dress flattering, more than it is fashionable? Will I be relaxed enough to photograph well (i.e., no worrying about undergarments, tugging to adjust boobs.) Can I eat and dance in this? Finally, is this dress appropriate for the climate and backdrop of this wedding?
Blogger Danielle Aftali tagged this photo attending a wedding in East Hampton. Notice she went for a relaxed fit, given the climate and obvious outdoor environment. She’s wearing neutral open-toe mules and opted for a stand-out pattern that not only goes but also glows from afternoon to evening. The modest cut takes her from the chapel to the water while wowing elders and potential love interests.
Up-and-coming stylist Ann Mason wowed for this black-tie event in a color she knew few would be wearing. The light sequins and fitted silhouette work well indoors, and the dress speaks for itself. Highly recommend shooting her a follow— she’s Dallas-based!
Cut-outs, exciting necklines, and basic additions like a puff sleeve help solid dresses come to life. Look for these elements on your hunt, especially if pattern is out of the question for you. Blogger Mary Sanford Shepherd styled this daytime island look with a dress and accessories that compliment climate.
