Leopard Style Guide

By Isabelle Redfield

Leopard is timeless. In the office, on the street, as an overcoat, I always feel stylish in leopard. It’s intrinsically feminine and gives off a confidence that no other print comes close to matching. Best of all, it will never go out of style. Here’s how women have been rocking leopard for years, and how you can incorporate these elevated staple neutrals into your wardrobe without missing the mark.

As an overcoat

I love a long leopard coat. This speedy neutral is a city-girl staple piece. Throw it over nearly anything, including your nightgown, and it’ll look great.

Pair with color

A real statement look is leopard paired well with bright color. This is a look probably pulled off better on the street or for a night out, but don't be afraid to do it. It’s loud, but if you feel confident in it, rock it. A bright blue, a green, pink, lilac, yellow, red, orange, you name it. It’s a young and playful way to express yourself in a refined way.

Pants

Today, a more traditional masculine tailored pant in leopard is foolproof. Whether you dress it up or down, you’ll be turning heads in the right way. This look is a trendier alternative to a pair of jeans and can go from day tonight.

Casually layered

I love a leopard long sleeve over a high collared white t-shirt— but throw a leopard overcoat over a sweatshirt, and it’s effortless and cool. White is a great color to pair with leopard, especially in warmer weather and in spring and summer. It’s inviting, feminine, and works for women of every age.

On your feet

Whether it’s a great pump to give life to your pantsuit/workwear, or with your jeans and a white t-shirt, leopard shoes can be the easiest way to take a simple look up-a-notch. This look is often more subtle than you think!

With another pattern

Arguably the hardest to nail. But if you do, it doesn’t get much chicer and cool-girl than that. Pair with an old-school checked blazer and a great pair of jeans to balance things out. This look shows you know what you’re doing. Preppy in a way, but ultra-cool.

As a dress

You can either go boyish or feminine, depending on length and silhouette. I think either is great.

Leopard on leopard

A great look paired with black accessories! Leopard on leopard is a harsher counterpart, but one worth trying if you've got the look!

Belt it

Put it over a black dress or jeans to not only show off your waist but also to spice up your casual mono-tone look.
